Donald Trump Presents Economic Plan to Boost the Economy & Create Jobs

Trump in WilmingtonOn Thursday, September 15, Donald Trump gave a strong economic policy speech in New York. He called for a major simplification in the nation’s complex tax code, with significant tax relief for middle class Americans. Trump also called for rollback of many of the thousands of new regulations which are hurting economy and job growth: “I’ve proposed a moratorium on new federal regulations that are not compelled by Congress or public safety, and I will eliminate all needless and job-killing regulations now on the books.”
Many feel that the Democratic policies of high taxes and thousands of new regulations are responsible for the current recovery being the slowest since the 1940s. The economy is now barely growing at all, with the GDP growing at an annual rate of only 1.1% during the second quarter of 2016. We have the lowest labor force participation rates in four decades, as millions have simply given up on finding jobs. And the poor have suffered the most, as nearly 12 million have been added to the food stamp rolls since President Obama took office, nearly 7 million Americans were added to the ranks of those in poverty, and 58 percent of African-American youth are now either outside the labor force or not employed.
Donald Trump is calling for Americans to realize that we can do much better than the current economy. He said that it’s time for “a national goal of reaching four percent economic growth” and said “Under this American System, every policy decision we make must pass a simple test: does it create more jobs and better wages for Americans?”
