MVCI, together with SMCLG, NMCLG, and GCTP, will be meeting together to learn about Ohio’s Online Checkbook. Mr. Spencer Gross, a representative of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office, will teach us how to navigate and use the Online Checkbook. He will also explain how it may be used to help provide transparency in our local government. The meeting will be held at Washington Heights Baptist Church on Monday, September 14, 2015, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The church is located at 5650 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton Ohio 45429.
Mr. Gross is a public affairs liaison for Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel. Previously he worked as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives after graduating from Miami University in 2012.
Mr. Gross will explain how the Ohio Online Checkbook has been provided to help the average citizen learn about the various expenditures made by our government with our tax dollars. He will also explain how the implementation of this data is being made available, at no cost, to each of our local governments across the state.
This meeting is being held to make the relationship between citizen and local government one of mutual respect and transparency. While governments are responsible for the judicious spending of tax dollars, citizens are also responsible to take a part in being informed as to where their tax dollars are going.
Treasurer Mandel’s OnLine Checkbook is a great step forward in promoting an atmosphere of transparency and trust between elected officials and the local citizenry.
COME LEARN, UNDERSTAND AND SEE HOW THIS CAN HELP YOUR COMMUNITY!
