Dayton Tea Party The Dayton Tea party is a non-profit, non-partisan organization serving the citizens of the Miami Valley region by providing rallies, forums, and educational seminars and programs that support principles of liberty, fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, smaller government, individual liberty, respect for the Constitution, and responsibility and accountability from our elected officials – local, state, and national. Mission Statement The Mission of the Dayton Tea Party is to provide community groups, events, and educational programs that advance the American principles of Liberty and promote Fiscal Responsibility, Smaller Government, Support for Free Markets, and Respect for the United States Constitution. Purpose Create a community of strong, informed citizens who understand their rights and their responsibilities as American Citizens and take an active role in their communities, state, and nation putting the government of “We the People” back in the hands of the people where it belongs. History and Legal Foundation The Dayton Tea Party was founded by Rob Scott, and former co-founder Perry Reynolds in February 2009. The Liberty Groups are subchapters of the DTP. The Dayton Tea Party is for PEACEFUL resolutions to what we believe in. The Dayton Tea Party WILL NOT be involved in any civil unrest or anything close to that. We must be peaceful and calm. The Dayton Tea Party is a member of the Ohio Liberty Council (other Tea Parties throughout Ohio are as well). President
Rob Scott, president & founder of the Dayton Tea Party, is a longtime resident of Kettering, Ohio. Scott is a practicing attorney in Dayton ath the law firm of Oldham & Deitiering, LLC. Scott received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Dayton School of Law. He attended Kettering City Schools, Sinclair Community College and received his bachelor's in political science and urban affairs from Wright State University.
Also, Scott worked in the Ohio House of Representatives as a legislative aide and worked on several major political campaigns in Ohio. Additionally, Scott worked for the Dayton Daily News as a reporter and a copy editor during his undergraduate years in college. He is a member of numerous organizations in the Dayton community.
Scott is an advocate for smaller government, fiscal restraint, support for small business and free markets. He emphasizes that the Dayton Tea Party "is not a Republican thing. It's not a Democrat thing. This is a big government thing!" He can be contacted at rob@daytonohioteaparty.com. Finance Director Brian Stanford is the Finance Director for the Dayton Tea Party. Brian Stanford, Director of Finance, has worked in several financial capacities for over 20 years with Alcatel-Lucent, formerly a part of AT&T. Raised in California, Brian has also lived in Chicago and Kansas City, and worked for two years in Saudi Arabia. He became interested in politics in the early 90s, but became actively involved after the first Dayton Tea Party event at Courthouse Square. Brian graduated from Cal State-Long Beach and has graduate degrees from USC and Pepperdine.
