DTP 7 PM update: Senate D’s filibustering to give SS cards to illegal aliens instead of paying federal agents

DTP 7 PM 1-minute update banner(This update is a bit longer reflecting the importance of the issue.) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, less than two months into his term as Senate leader, is signaling surrender to Obama and progressives in both parties. He is trying to send the House bill back to get the troublesome amendments stopping the legalization of illegal aliens removed to have a clean bill. What is a “clean bill”? It is a bill that funds unconstitutional acts of the president—a clear violation of the Senate Majority Leader’s oath of office to uphold the Constitution. Politics is all about WHO rules us and HOW they rule us. Demand they abide by the Constitution.

From Heritage Action Sentinel:

DHS Funding and Executive Amnesty: The effort to stop executive amnesty continues in the Senate, on the Department of Homeland Security funding bill (H.R.240).  The Republican Senate has held three cloture votes on the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security and stop the President’s amnesty.  Failure to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed means the Senate cannot begin debating or amending the bill.  While multiple Senate Democrats have expressed reservations in public about the President’s executive amnesty, they continue to side with their party on cloture votes, denying the needed 60 votes.  Maintaining the pressure on these politicians until the Feb. 27th deadline and continuing to force multiple votes to protect an unpopular and unconstitutional policy is an important component of any viable strategy to stop executive amnesty.

While some in the political class are bemoaning the lack of leverage in the current fight, conservatives who fought the Cromnibus are not surprised.  Ted Cruz encapsulated this view in a recent remark:

“[The DHS funding battle] was not my plan. I fought in December against this plan. I said this plan doesn’t make sense. It gives away all our leverage. It’s a plan that is designed to fail. So I would ask leadership—this is their plan they designed. Let’s see what their next step is.

I’ll say two things. This past week, we saw Senate Democrats three times filibuster funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The Democrats need to stop filibustering funding for the DHS. Republicans, what we need to do, is honor the commitments we made to the voters. We need to fund DHS. We need to act effectively to stop president Obama’s illegal and unconstitutional executive amnesty.”

From FreedomWorks:

Now is the time to repeal ObamaCare in full!

Ted Cruz’s bill to repeal ObamaCare has 51 supporters in the Senate. That’s a solid majority. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has no more excuses.

I’m tired of the delay, and I know you are too. Republicans ran on the promise to repeal ObamaCare. Now they need to keep their word. With 51 votes, the Senate can use reconciliation to pass the bill that repeals ObamaCare. The House of Representatives already acted. House Republicans listened to the American people. They passed a full repeal. They stood up to Obama.

Mitch McConnell needs to follow their lead. He wouldn’t be Majority Leader if he didn’t pledge to repeal ObamaCare root and branch. Now Mitch needs to earn his role as the Senate Republican leader.

The first step is to repeal ObamaCare.

Send a message to Mitch McConnell. Tell him to repeal ObamaCare ASAP.

We’ve spent the past 4 years fighting Obama’s health care takeover. This is our chance to score a huge victory.
